Remember the first question you asked.
I have nothing to say about people drawing inspiration from wherever they draw it from.
I think the problem comes with whites taking it upon themselves to physically put on expressions of cultural and racial traditions that are not their own. I mean look I am Spanish but that doesn't mean that because I have pretty recent cultural roots in Africa that I feel to take it upon myself to represent African culture. That's ignoring the much more recent history. We all came out of Africa 100,000 years ago. That does not make it okay for me to put on black traditions. There’s a fine line between appreciation and banditry.
Native Americans say that whites who glom on to their traditions are ‘playing Indian.’ I think this captures our tendency to go for superficial understandings and then announce to the world that we ARE this or that. To me, this is all about the habitual mindset that marks white privilege, and I don’t think much real spiritual development is possible for us until we look into the way white supremacy distorts our personalities and our morality.
