My family is from Jamaica, and their objective for the past ten decades has been to lighten up through bringing in lighter skinned blacks. My observations, they are more polite than African Americans due to the British influence and history, but they are inundated with Eurocentric media the same as most Africans. Therefore, they seem, in my opinion, less vocal and less politically motivated than African Americans. But, I grew up in the hood in Detroit and my parents were amongsts the founders of the League of Black Revolutionary Workers and DRUM, so in my household screaming about the American system was a mandatory every day custom that has never died out.
