Greetings to African people internationally speaking. As far as I can recall, Marcus Garvey had great confidence in Ras Tafari in the very early days, since it was Marcus Garvey who told our people of African origin, that a great King would be Crowned in Ethiopia, and that we as African people, must look up to him as one of our people of great estate and leadership. It is therefore very clear that Marcus Garvey had great respect for Ras Tafari in the very early days.
Marcus Garvey was a very well read person and was also very knowledgeable, in relating to the living conditions of African people all over the world. He was a great African Liberator and therefore, the cause of justice for African people everywhere, was really is daily thoughts and activities.
In 1916, when Ras Tafari became the Crown Prince for the Throne of Ethiopia, Marcus Garvey was in touch with all that information, and in that same year, he was on a ship sailing to America, to meet with Booker T.Washington, after reading Booker T . Washington's book UP From Slavery.
So let it be absolutely clear, that Marcus Garvey, was a great supporter of Ras Tafari and other African Leaders in Mama Africa, and other parts of the world, and was watching what was taking place in Ethiopia, after he was imprisoned, and deported from the United States of America, and was then living in England, when he became disappointed, that His Majesty, would go into exile in England, of all places, while we as Rastafari people and other African Liberators, were preaching against England as babaylon the great whore, who became the greatest slave trader of them all.
The Article above was published in 1937 in England, where Marcus Garvey spent the rest of his life, after he was falsely imprisoned in the USA, and then deported, without given the opportunity, to take care of his organization's affair.
Marcus Garvey was only a very out spoken brother on this occasion, and he reconized that there was an existing contradition in this situation, when one of our greatest African Leaders, had to go to England, of all places, to live in exile, while the Rastafari people everywhere are burning England and their babylonian system on a daily basis, with brimedtone and fire. There are indeed somethings which Marcus Garvey said in his article about His Majesty, which I completely disagree with, and which I think that Marcus Garvey may have later regretted that he had said in his emotoinal State of mind.
In the mean time, there is an existing contradiction in the question which Marcus Garvey raised, and who to tell, he and Tafari may have already discussed these questions, since they were both living in England at that period. If we are to serve our people genuinely, and to give good knowledge to our people, especially the following generation, then questions like these which are loaded with contradictions, should be seriously reasoned about, and not be swept under the carpet of conciet.
As for myself, if I am ever fortunate enough, to meet HIS MAJESTY at any time, there are many questions which I would like to ask HIM, and the question which we are talking about, could very well be one of them.
The RASTAFARI MOVEMANT in the early days, was really a liberation movemant, to liberate African people, and to fulfill Marcus Garvey words, Africa for Africans, thopse at home and those abroad, but now the movemant is being splintered into various parts and various groups of people, seems to be making up the rules, YET AFRICAN PEOPLE ARE STILL IN CAPTIVITY EVERYWHERE, WHAT BIS REAALY GOING ON? When shall we be able to seriously take care of our own affairs? as African people, without allowing strangers to be mingling in our Villages.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination with tolerance.
ONE BLACK LOVE ONE BLACK HEART
Baba Ras Marcus
