Well, when I was in the Caribbean, I didn't see the Black population complaining too much.
On the contrary, the folks I met were really lovely people and we all got on really well together. Smelling the roses, rolling over in the breeze, whatever, we had found peaceful conversation and great conversation, is great conversation.
Sorry, I do not uphold the plantation syndrome but I do think that time moves on and with many of the islands having a 98% black population, aren't they in control of their own destiny?
After all, who is responsible for the state of affairs in Jamaica? The drugs, the gun culture etc.Have you ever been to Kingston and been scared to go down the street in broad daylight?
How about life in Antigua or Barbados? They have a low crime rate.
I think some folks on this board seem to jump onto a band wagon and fire off comments add lib just to vent their frustrations. Like anything, there are nice black folks and nice white folks, but I am certain that people from both backgrounds have also met horrible people.
What would the difference be if I were a young blond white girl or a middle aged black man? What difference would it make at the end of the day? Isn't the fact that I get along with 'all folks' the most important thing?
Yes, I am a human being from the planet earth and Jah has made a beautiful sun for all his children and guess what, I am off to the Caribbean again very soon and can't wait to meet the friends I made there last year, they were such open people.
