be it known that many Rastafarian groups which have their origins in Africa- to distinguish them from those started in Jamaica or elsewhere are actually opposed to the use of marijuana for any reason, religious or otherwise.
Many of them are also quite comfortable with Whites, Asians etc who have renounced the culture and faith of the country they are coming from and become Rastafarians.
Many Rastafarians of every shade have settled from abraod in Zimbabwe, my country. I know a few personally. There's a senior lecturer at the Harare Polytech, only when he speaks English can you tell that he is not originally from Zimbabwe.
But you also have some people who try and bring in the whole Yardie and gangsta culture, the whole babyfather thing and so on and so on. No African community is going to put up with that.
An intelligence officer- one of what I call the underground Rastas coz he doesn't "look" like a Rasta- told me that there were reports that Western Governments had discussed hijacking the repatriation movement to dump drugs, gangsterism etc on to the newly-independent states. A reporter also told me the same thing, that he had first got wind of this during a visit to America.
His Imperial Majesty told a delgation to send the right people, and I would like to reiterate that. But at the same time, I think all Blacks in the west have the right to return home, whether we want them back or not. Sinister conspiracies aside, I think the majority of those wishing to return are genuine.
