Praised art Thou, Most High God, who has sanctified us with Thy commandments....Purify us that we may serve Thee in truth.
Rastafarians like myself are at a total loss to divine the purpose behind your anti-Semitic rant. I know that from time to time, there emerge people calling themselves Rastafarians who deny the origins of the faith and challenge its basic tenets. They are free to do so, of course. Nonetheless, it is very disturbing whenever one displays their ill-advised rejection of Rastafari, in favour of a mishmash of the wildest stretches, myths, distortions and inaccuracies. As stated above, they do not serve any purpose, they do not benefit Rastafarians, or indeed anyone else.
The Judaeo-Christian origins of the Rastafarian faith are clear. In my native Zimbabwe, it was Jews- descendants of King's Solomon's expeditions to the land of Ophir- who began to proclaim the Emperor Haile Selassie as the Messiah, even though this meant also recognising Jesus. The main Rastafarian groups in the West also have this Judaic slant- Twelve Tribes of Israel, the tenets of the Nyabinghi Order and the EABIC. During his trial, Leonard P Howell said, " We were told we were Gentiles, but we have come to understand that we are the Jews".
Small wonder that many encyclopaedias of religion still list "Rastafarianism" as a "Black Jewish sect". The term Black Jewish is one I am comfortable with myself because it acknowledges the historical and consequent theological and cultural differences between Africa's Jewish movements and those developed in the West by the Ashkenazim ( Khazars) etc.
Whether you like it or not, Rastafari is Biblical.
If I were you, I would do well to talk about how wonderful the Book of the Coming Forth is, rather than demonstrating your ignorance of history etc by libelling the Torah- which book hasn't actually done anything against you. Stick to your own, and leave us with our Matshafe Qiddus.
