Genocide, Group-Defense and the Historical Context of Dr. Kamau Kambon's Appeal

This article is addressed specifically to the Afrikan (Continental and Diasporan for any who may otherwise be confused) people of the World.

I recently admonished a student who compared Ngugi Wa Thiong’o, Franz Fanon and Chinua Achebe to Hitler for suggesting that Afrikan people should control Our own nations. How did this student do this? By removing the historical context and placing quotes beside each other. How could one make such a facile comparison between those who are being destroyed and those who are doing the destruction? How can one fail to examine the context in which the speakers find themselves and expect to understand either the comments or the environment which produced them? In this short article I intend to re-contextualize the comments made by my father, Dr. Kamau Kambon.

Afrikan people throughout the world are victims of genocide historically and contemporarily in all the areas which define the use of this term.

According to the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Article 2, genocide is defined as follows:

"Article 2

In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

* (a) Killing members of the group;
* (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
* (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
* (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;

This is a systematic genocide on the part of all those who support the system of white supremacy both tacitly and actively. According to Vincent Harding,

"Systems do not exist apart from individuals. They are, indeed, the creation and expression of men and women. Therefore...black scholars must not stop with systems when we identify the enemy. For there is no escape from the fact that all those 'good' white people who support, uphold, acquiesce in (and encourage Blacks to believe in) these systems are the enemy. It really makes little difference whether such people fervently grasp this American Way of Death out of their fear of freedom, or cooly consent because of their cynical refusal to believe that fundamental change toward a renewed humanity is possible. Whatever the reasons, they fit the identification.”

When WE speak of the genocide being committed against Afrikan people on a global scale, this is the work of the system of white supremacy and the individual whites of which this system is comprised. How can I say this? On what basis? In what ways is this genocide manifested? This list could go on ad infinitum because there is more than enough evidence that whites do not intend to cease and desist from committing genocide against Afrikan people and destroying the planet and life itself in the process. This destruction is on a systemic level and an individual level. Everywhere they have gone, they have spread disease, death and destruction and this track record is being upheld by current generations. Dr. Kamau Kambon's comments should not be taken out of this context of the actual and continuous genocide that is being committed against Our People.

Dr. Kamau Kambon is a modern-day David Walker. David Walker in his famous Appeal called an end the particular form that this genocide took back in his day: slavery. Walker called for enslaved Afrikans to rise up and destroy the destroyers. He was roundly criticized by white abolitionists like William Lloyd Garrison as well as by fearful Negroes very similar to Opio Sokoni and Lawrence Guyot of Pro-Black Media Forum Fame.

The introduction to David Walker’s appeal states that:

“If any single event may be said to have triggered the Negro revolt, it is the publication of David Walker's Appeal to the Coloured Citizens of the World in September, 1829. The slave-holding South saw in it only incitement to servile rebellion, and went to fantastic lengths to suppress it. Even in the North, where slavery was generally opposed in principle, moderates insisted that the time for abolition had not yet come and agreed that the pamplet was inappropriate and incendiary.

Is this reaction to David Walker's appeal not historically parallel to the contemporary reaction to Dr. Kambon's Appeal? In light of all that WE know about the past and current genocide being carried out against Afrikan people the world over under the static-dynamic interlocking system of white world terror domination, Dr. Kamau Kambon has called for nothing more than self-defense and an end to Our demise as a race, much like David Walker. He has flatly stated that based on all historical and contemporary data “the problem on the planet is white people” as the perpetrators of the longest lasting most persevering genocide of one group against another in the history of the planet. Perhaps his words will be recalled when WE are in one of the 600 FEMA operated concentration camps or when the virus that selectively kills Afrikan people is finally discovered. In hindsight, Walker’s call for rising up and killing the white slavemaster was not the call of a “radical”. It was the call of a conservative. An Afrikan who was concerned first and foremost with conserving his race from complete extermination through genocide and slavery. What has changed since his day? Are Our people not still enslaved on trumped up charges in privatized prisons, similar to the systems of convict leasing and sharecropping? Are Our people not lynched daily by the police in cold cells and interrogation rooms yet labeled as suicides? Are Our people not the most liquored-up, drugged-up, dumbed-down, cracked-in, beaten-down victims of genocide on the planet earth? Have Our people not been enslaved with chains only to free Ourselves and yet still be re-enslaved through dependence, crack, liquor, prisons, Ritalin, special education, alien religions (Christianity, Islam, Marxism), integration, kwk.?

If Dr. Kambon is to be criticized, WE must be sure to criticize Our past freedom fighters such as David Walker, Nat Turner, Denmark Vesey, Nanny, Yaa Asantewaa and Gabriel Prosser who knew that a process of violent and subtle genocide was (and still is) being carried out against Afrikan people and who took concrete and substantive steps to stop it for the sake of Justice itself.

Dr. Kambon is Our generation’s David Walker. Let his message serve as a wake-up call to all those confused Afrikans who don’t know that Black people throughout the world are being slowly and at a quickening pace being exterminated as WE speak. This includes the genocide against Afrikans in the Western Hemisphere, those in Afrika, in Europe, the Dalits in India being murdered daily by the Brahmins (read Aryans), the Black people of West Papua New Guinea being killed by the Indonesian government, systematic genocide against the indigenous people in Australia, and everywhere Black people are. This expansive worldwide genocide must be stopped and it must be stopped BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!!
