"anyway, I don't see how you could read benefit into my question....or read into it that I was saying to cater to us whites?"
* when you brought it up, it seemed (to me) that you were coming from a place of thinking that i thought that these reasonings were brought up for "our" = whites benefit. that is why i responded later with my comment about not realizing it being an "or" question. the MEANING and correct application of your words you were trying to get at was lost on me initially.
"I feel that thinking we are being reminded who(blacks) and/or what (goals of the Rastafari Movement/Africans)we whites are defending...is a white mindset type of framing. We are in no position to think we are defending anything, we need to be thinking along the lines of surrendering, relinquishing, and downstroying our white privilege/benefits=white supremacy."
* i see what you mean - defense is a strong word, but i think in the context i meant, it hits the mark of what you are saying. the way i see it this. when we are "thinking along the lines of surrendering, relinquishing, and downstroying our white privilege/benefits=white supremacy" this is working towards "defending" the goals of the Rastafari movement which includes Africa for Africans at home and abroad in the bigger picture.
