Rastafari people think that they will get everything when they go to Zion, so they do not have to have any thing here on earth. That is a doctrine which has been instilled in the minds of Rastafari people for a very long time. It is a christian teaching which have been going on long before Marcus Garvey was born, and long before the Rastafari movment came into existance. Many of the songs which Rastafari people are still singing, are really christian songs with Rastafari words put in side the melody lines.
Music and singing are good spiritual things which can up lift the minds of people and give them the energies to produce, but with that everlasting smoking while singing, it end up giving people the energies to sleep and imagine, at a time when they should be inventing, are planting fruit trees, are building houses, are running pipelines to bring water into our villages, are making clothes for people to wear, or doing something to make money to improve our villages, so that our families can be properly taken care of.
The Rastafari movement has no right to be a stagnant pool of water, it has the right to make life better for it's people as we live from day to day. It has the right to make sure that it's people be fed, clothe and sheltered as we live from day to day. It has no right to promise people that in the great future you will get everything which you need, when you go to mount Zion, while right here now, the only thing which is available, is the very degrading social conditions under which our people are living. Give our people what is needed now, and the future will take care of it self.
Rastafari people must find some ways and means to be industrious, so that we can create the social and civic amenities, to take care of our people especially our women and children. If other people can have Hospitals, schools, libraries, clinics, food stores, plantations with various kinds of foods etc. then we can do the same and do much better. There is nothing wrong with gathering and singing religious songs, but that must be done after our families are provided for. We must not allow the following generation, to indulge in sitting around in smomking parties, and not doing any production for the health and benefit of our people, since our youths are the leaders and teachers of tommorrow, we must pass on to then, the great baton of good attitudes.
Again I send many oceans of blessings and self determination to African people everywhere
ONE BLACK HEART ONE BLACK LOVE
