A few of us discussing it is better than none of us broaching it at all...for that, I commend you heartily...
this topic has been debated on other forums I frequent as well...
and I have participated in a few of said debates myself...
the one constant in this argument I've found is that lighter skinned brothas and sistas and those involved
in ONE LOVE rhetoric unions adopt a guilt by association defense mechanism in
response...where they feel attacked
and instinctively enter into self-protect mode.. and cannot, therefore, rationally digest
the overall dynamics of this issue....from that point on, rational discourse is weakened...moreover,
you are correct in asserting that there is a particular brand of
inherent arrogance among some of those for whom the status quo is of benefit...I say this
aware that another response to this debate is often the simplistic rationale that the
darker skinned individuals are jealous...of what?...the close to European ideal
globally accepted by the darker masses as beauty to which their skin privilege
is tied?...well, this isn't said exactly...but is often implied...and tacitly accepted, too,
by all hues as dogma...it is incumbent upon our darker brethren then to identify, address
and begin defusing the impact of this mindset…they now, in a sense, must go into
self-protect mode…else colorism will continue being another obstacle to our liberation
(social, economical, spiritual...earthly...and beyond)
