"Babylon USA" These days no one has their own damn opinion Attribute their thoughts to the media's dominion Cardboard cutouts marchin' down through the street To the drum of the capitalist beat: Soulless, mindless, numb and deaf Cuttin' down forests till their ain't none lef' Anything they gotta do for shameless luxury Make sure they drive a lexus or an infinity But what about the third on this planet without food? While you laugh and tarry they suffer and brood Fatten your wallets and your body's overweight Attribute "success" to some lame act of fate The truth is you're poor and soon you shall see There's no divine backing behind your livity All of this great wealth that you've treasured and stored Will sting like the whip of a frayed extention cord As you beat your chest in great lamentation And give way to JAH generation |
