Delegates from developing countries are again raising the issue of farm subsidies at this week's World Trade Organisation (WTO) meeting in Geneva. Mandisi Mpahlwa, the South African trade and industry minister, says there is still a large gap between farmers in the developed and developing countries. The subsidies enjoyed by farmers in the developed countries gives them an added advantage in competing for world markets.
