EVERYBODY SAYS THAT.. THE PAST MUST DIE...(Miss Lillian's Song)... everbody says that the past must die / but the past lives on in my children's eyes / you see them laughin but i hear their cries / an everybody wants the past to die / but the past lives on in my children's eyes... i see them lookin for a job an get turned away / or the boss man says , you take this minimum wage / so they count their money an it don't add up / an they got no straw to suck it up / remember i tell ya / all is not as it seems / sometimes you gotta wake up / just to have them dreams ... an everybody says that the past must die / but the past lives on in that boss man's eyes / so everybody says that the past must die / but the past lives on in my children's eyes... i see them open their minds, but then the story is told / that everything can be bought ,an everything sold / they hear you can't do this , an you can't do that / so they look to the preacher , but all he's got is a hat / remember i tell ya / all is not as it seems / sometimes ya gotta wake up just to see them dreams... an everybody says that the past must die / but the past lives on in that preacher-man's eyes / an everybody wants the past to die / but the past lives on in my children's eyes / you see them laughin / but i hear their cries / an everbody says that the past must die ... i see them in the streets , call it plantin their seeds / but they don't understand 'bout plantin 'mongst weeds / so their crops don't grow , an they turn to me / with questions to answers 'bout what this life means / remember i tell ya / all is not as it seems / you gotta wake up / to have a dream... an everybody says that the past must die / but the past lives on in my childrens eyes / you see them laughin but i hear their cries / but everybody says that the past must die... i see them when the po--lice come, an take 'em by the hand / an everbody thinks an old lady , just don't understand / sometimes they see me crawl, so the children can walk / so they climb that wall , just to show my fault / but just remember i tell ya / all is not as it seems / ya gotta wake up / just to see them dreams... an everybody says that the past must die / but the past lives on in that po--liceman's eyes / an the past lives on in that preacher-man's eyes / an the past lives on in that boss man's eyes / an everybody says that the past must die / but the past lives on in my children's eyes / you hear them laughin but i hear their cries / an everbody says that the past must die.. but the past lives on in my children's eyes... seh the past lives on in my children's eyes... remember i tell ya all is not as it seems... but everbody says that the past must die... yeah everbody says that...the past must die..
