Title: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: live4zion on August 28, 2006, 02:56:55 PM I am a white, 17 year old from ohio. I am fairly new to the rastifarian religion. I use to be a "hardcore" atheist, untill i decided to pray and ask the lord to give me guidence. sure enough i got a sign that lead me straight into the hands of rasta. Before i had finnaly given my life to live for Zion i had ben very into reggae music and found more love than i could possibly imagine. I have allways had quite a bitterness for most white people and definatly white society. I could not relate to rastafarian religion anymore. i guess what im getting at is, "am i going to get shun by african american people for following their culture because it makes me happy?". regaurdless of the outcome of the posts i will get on this, i will continue to follow the word of Haile Selassie, I am just curiouse.
Thank you Mat Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: melaninmagic on August 29, 2006, 12:29:43 AM Hi Mat,
Out of curiosity... why do you have a bitterness for most white people and white society? Thanks. Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: siger on August 29, 2006, 03:17:48 AM Hi-ya,
Interesting, what we have here. I, too, would hav askd the same Qn. < melanin's> But i guess coming from the 'chocolate city', you have seen your fill of racial discrimination against black folk. It is nice, you finding Zion. Granted, ppl will talk. Some black folk, even here, dont fancy the idea of a white rasta. But Zion is the rock of the sons of David , and only Jah is judge. Walk the path of rasta, and you'l swim in di blessings of the most higg. Just dont forget two things. Rasta is no religion; it is a movement in faith. 2. You are white, and dont need to be 'feeling bitterness....' towards your own kind. <without reason> Cheers. Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: Abyss1 on August 29, 2006, 04:34:27 PM Blessing and Praise to all,
I am new to this forum, i have been reading discussions for the past 2 weeks, and decided to participate. It was understood that many(myself included) see Rastafari as a way of life not a religion..since i canot find a Rastafari Church that exists in my area if habitat. I do feel as though you should find communion in an orthodox church. For communion is your salvation. Raggae music is but a medium for the gospel of InI, it represents parts of Ras aspects which relates to the whole. being down with Hip Hop/blues/ or country does not equate to being a baptist..does it? Its important to differentiate this since music is a matter of subjective opinions. Being white in my opinion means you have a duty to pay back the crimes done to black people in Africa, and in the diaspora. Because simply chanting "Jah Rastafari" will not make u a Ras. I think Ras has a duty to find a connection to Africa and then to help Africa by any means nessecary, and to not keep pointing the fact that we have already been divided by color...which is the "White" People in AMerica invention during chattel. WE NEED REPARTATION...Not More people justifying thier Color in lifestyles. In my opinion you should study some African American history, Go to predominate Black city in Africa, or make it a mission to educate White about repartiation. -Shape InI Future Abyss1 Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: live4zion on August 29, 2006, 06:02:59 PM first... Reggae music was actually the first thing to introduce me to Rastafarian culture... it was actually "By the Rivers Of Babylon" by the Melodians. Reggae sparked my intrest and had me looking into all or most of black history and culture. so i know its not the main basis of rasta. to me it would be like praise music. My bitterness towards white people i guess comes from the fact that my family is from either tennessee or gorgia and are what some would call "rednecks". just some of the things i find that they say about black people and culture has made me very, very fist-clinching mad. Alot of my friends are black and to hear and see them all descriminated against makes me very mad... i also find any "reble flags" highly offensive. I grew up very poor and "trashy" persay and i was also descriminated against for that so i know how it feels. I just see NO reason why any man should have anything against african americans seeing as they did NOTHING WRONG, not now, not ever. Every chance i get i am trying to inform white people on my opionions, veiws, and facts. I would also LOVE to visit Africa and if i ever have the chance i will. thank you all for writing back, i really appriciate it. LOVE

I am happy to hear you have turned from athiesim to search and find JAH light. Rastafari transcends race. Rastafari stands for universal love, a higher spiritual ideal that is not emphasized in mainstream western society. To be a Rasta is to seek to be a righteous person and to continuously seeking to improve the self. Although Rastafari is rooted in Afrikanness, it is not a racist doctrine. The true essence of Rastafari is love for all forms of life which come in all colors, shapes and sizes. JAH created ALL. It is not our place in this world to judge others because of skin. If you do meet a so- called Rasta who is racist against whites or blacks or any race he or she does not understand the true doctrine of what they say they follow. I stongly encourage you to continue to seek knowledge about Rastafari and the other spiritual paths on the Earth. You may not consider yourself a Buddhist, Christian, Islamic etc. but you can learn much from their teachings. Continue your search. JAH BLESS

I am a rastafarian from Brooklyn, New York, and I would like to make a few comments and ask a few questions on behalf of Iself and some of I bredren. First, I want to say that I do not have a problem with white people turning to Rastafari because JAH is for one and all. However I notice that most "White Rastafarians" tend to state their reasons for wanting to become a rasta, then chant "peace", "one love" and other phrases and expect that all should be forgiven and their journey to "oneness" is over and I strongly disagree with that. To be a rastafarian especially if you are white you have an obligation to put a stop to injustice and hatred wherever it rears its ugly head. as a white rastafarian the I have an obligation to speak about race, racism(white supremacy) and ways to eliminate It because it is a PROVEN FACT that white people knows more about the tactics and strategies of this global white supremist system, more so than their black counterparts. So when you say things like: Quote My bitterness towards white people i guess comes from the fact that my family is from either tennessee or gorgia and are what some would call "rednecks". just some of the things i find that they say about black people and culture has made me very, very fist-clinching mad. Anyway, with regards to skin colours, Jah is our creator, and we all Jah children. Now, in my opinion, if anyone who call themself Rasta, is rascist, or discriminant, in anyways, whether in regards, to race, colour, class or anything, they are not Rasta. Rastafari call for world unity, and for man to turn to the truth, and not blindly follow satans path, so this goes against the truth, if people say, oh this man cant be rasta, he have light skin, or you aint black, or you aint Jamaican, they are on the wrong path. In New Zealand, being a Rasta with light skin, i have to put up with Heathen saying how can you be Rasta, you aint black, you aint Jamaican etc..., i just reply, yeah, but i do know the truth, i am good person, my heart is filled with love, i do the almighty ones will, i do live healthy and clean, i know life is the greatest blessing, so i live. etc.., most of them dont even know, they just think Rasta is Jamaican people who like reggae and smoke herb, and in regard to a post above, yes as Rasta with light skin, it is our responsibility, to fight against all discrimination injustist rascism and hate, here in Aotearoa, people of native descent, Maori, are sometimes subject to rascism, and injustice, IandI know i have to fight against that. RasTafari You say that you KNOW that you have to fight against the oppression of the native peoples of "Aotearoa". You didn't say what you are doing. So....what are you doing, or what do you plan on doing about it? "Those with the ability, have the Response-ability" - Dr. Neely Fuller Jr. In this case you as a white person have the ability more so than a non-white person to expose racism and inform your brethren/sistrens about the racists tactics being used on them. It is a proven fact that most white people are taught racists behaviour before even entering kindergarten so a white 5 year old can inform me of racist behaviour and strategies. I'm not saying this to be malicious in anyway, but I n I should know that Rastari was based on the concept of "Africa for the Afrikans at home and abroad" that phrase alone shows the need for GREAT equity among the different peoples of the world. Quote Anyway, with regards to skin colours, Jah is our creator, and we all Jah children. GREAT! I agree 1,000,000%.....BUT...The rest of the world don't see us that way, the powers that be, the "white supremist" or "white elites" don't see us that way. Until then that statement(although true!) means absolutely nothing to me, zero, zilch, nada. Also you don't like the black and white thing but until the system is changed it's unavoidable. For instance If you have a bullet wound, by calling it a "little scratch" does that take away the life threatening risk of the bullet wound? I just wanna leave by asking two final questions. 1) As a Rastafarian of "european descent" do you still benefit from "White Priviledge"? 2) If you had supernatural powers how would you put an end to racism(white supremacy)? What made you heights or look to fari besides hearing reggae music/song? What reading material have you 2 read since starting this trod on fari? and finally what are yall thoughts on locks? Im looking forward to hearing yall responses Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: Ras_Nevoe on February 06, 2007, 12:52:36 AM Quote Posted by: Poetic_Princess Blessings Bredren I have read this topic for couple days now and i decided just to comment on some things, I do agree with Ras Nevoe reasonings so far, but i have questions for the two bredrens as well........ ^^^^ They're not going to respond, and I predicted that before I even sent my reply to them. this is the problem with so called "White Rastas". They want to stay in that illusional place where color doesn't matter and peace, love and respect is a given without regard to race. This is where the problem lies. Every afrocentric movement that ever allowed whites into it has suffered from what i call the "Cream-in-coffe Syndrome". The movement loses it's primary objective which is black upliftment. When whites integrate the movement black pride and black love becomes a contradiction to the movement, because they will never encourage that. For example if the struggle is for "black nationalism", whites integrate the movement and now it becomes "racial equality"(we don't want our own anymore, we just wanna be able to share with whitey). Look at Christianity, The Original(black) Jews, The NAACP, The Abolitionist Movement, The Civil Rights Movement, Rock & Roll, Hip Hop, Nation Of Islam, Rastafari, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, The Uhuru Movement, Crips & Bloods, etc. etc. etc. The only movement that I can think of that wasn't plagued by the "cream-in-coffee Syndrome" was the Black Panthers and they're either dead, in jail, or in exile now, so...hey!....... Now don't get me wrong I want racial equality just like the next man, maybe more, But that doesn't blind me. It's like Malcolm X once said...... Quote This is an excerpt from Malcom X's "Message To The Grassroots" Speech It's just like when you got some coffee that's too black, which means it's too strong. What'chou do? You integrate it with cream! You make it weak, if you pour too much cream in you won't even know you ever had coffee. It used to be hot, it becomes cool. It used to be strong, it becomes weak. It used to wake you up, now...It'll put you to sleep. This is what they did with the "March On Washington", They Joined it. They didn't integrate it they infiltrated it. They joined it, became a part of it, took it over. And as they took it over it lost it's militancy, they ceased to be angry, they ceased to be hot, they ceased to be uncompromising, why it even ceased to be a march. It became a picnic, a circus [APPLAUSE]... Nothing but a circus, with clowns and all. You had one right here in detroit, I saw it on television, with clowns leadin', white clowns and black clowns. I know you don't like what I'm telling you, but i'ma tell you anyway, cuz I can prove what I'm sayin'. Yes, bredren, it would be very productive for these two bredrens to respond and carry out this reasoning which is very much needed like water in a desert. But I've done this countless times, with White Rastas, and white people in general. Unfortunately there is only two possible outcomes so far. Either the white person ends the conversation when the attention is turned on them or they get defensive and resort to racist tactics and name calling. Like I stated before, I knew b4 I clicked the "POST" button that these two bredren(don't really consider them as) weren't going to reply to what i have to say. irony of the words '(please write back)' where went the enthausiam? I think, for many whites, that the first thing that seduces them to Rastafari is the music of either Marley, Tosh, & others. But then, they go into it without much of a real understanding of it, besides the message of peace & love to all peoples. I also think young white people become drawn to it because they see it as a way they can justify abusing their bodies by profaning g-ds herb. That is to say, if there even is a devine... but then that's another concept I don't wanna get into. I'm curious, because, if in the course of my studies I find myself beginning to awaken my own rastafari awareness/acceptance how will the world greet me then? will I be faced with misunderstanding and hate from those of my own faith? and then, with my taking up of the lifestyle, will I be misunderstood by my white freinds? A All these are obstacles I think every young covert faces when deciding to follow a spiritual path, be it Buddhist, Islam, etc. I'm curious as to what the brethren and sistren have to say... An in relation to your question for these two young men, I think white people, when embracing a spiritual path that is afro-centric, either don't understand it fully or, if they do, they can't handle fully seperating themselves from White privilege. The social construct of race is hard to break away from, When I address a man, I think of him first as a man, not as black, red, or yellow, but as a man and brother of the worlds people... curiuos to kknow what you all think peace & Jah-bless Bud Andrews Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: Ben on April 01, 2007, 04:21:51 AM hey hey im 16yr old white rasta, but ask me what i am an il say rasta not white rasta. iv seen alot of topics like this and it confuses me why there is even discusion surely if he's a black mans god he must be mine unless we have our own white version ???.
Also some people say white people chant peace one love and believe there journey to oneness is over, for me i believe that the journey to 'oneness' is always ongoing. i am always learning things and trying to improve mmyself to be a better person and live clean and by no means is my journey remotely close to over. to some of the questions, yes i do benefit from white priviledge most likely, geographically it would be hard not to in britain as a white male but i dont think i be staying here my whole life :). Would you say this makes me a bad person? The first thing to do , is to ask ourselves what the term Rasta means , is it a fashion effect or an outlet for oppressed black folks , to center themselves on their inner spiritualities ? In the beginning , Rastafarism was made for oppressed Black folks ( Kamites ) , because they were ...oppresed , and too , because they needed a image of God made for them by them , and over all who look like them . During the slavery times , white slavemasters made them pray their white gods and forced them to forget all about their ancient African religion , it distroy their sens of pride , love for themselves , even love for other Kamites ( Blacks ) ect , still today you can see it .. A white rasta is like a black christian or a black muslim , it is not normal , because you can't be affiliate to a religion that promote kamite-rebirth , when your people were slave owners , slave masters and still today keep on hating Us . If you are white and wanna waste for time to smoke weed all day long (because you think it's the way it is when you are a rasta ) you've choose the wrong path , get back to your mysogyne , racist and bloody christian religion ! Personnally Iam an Afrocentric not a Rasta , but i support my Kamites brothers and Sisters in this religion , I prefer see them in there instead of let them be Muslims or Catholics , be wise and stay far from those impostors white wanna-be rastas Sons and Daugthers of Aton , defend your owns , and your own views on God. Hotep ! Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: siger on April 30, 2007, 09:28:13 AM A question.....
when do we draw the line between rastafarianism and afro-centrism? I have seen many articles professing the reasons for and the birth of rasta.... i will not argue these out, but i do know this; many things were born in the dark bellies of the slave ships, but rasta was not one of them. I'm not putting anyone's reasoning to chagrin; but is there no difference between spiritual standing and moral aptitude? Because most rasta are afro-centric does not make "black oppression" a foundation of rasta. A matter of contention, yes; a manifestation of chaos, yes; but not a pillar of spirituality. Jah forbid if such a thing was............ Title: white and rasta Post by: Kebo on May 16, 2007, 04:28:45 PM there are natural laws and there is a natural way of things - same goes for human society - rastafari is at the forefront of restoring the natural order - the restoration starts with Africa and the dissolution of racism. Any white person can claim they are rastafarian - many might have a surface understanding of rasta through 'one love' - but them, regardless of skin color, who understand the intent of the rastafari movement - bringing down the barriers of racism, respect for Africans and the healing of Africa to a dignified state, can only be considered allies to blacks and Rastafari. Ultimately I believe its a joint effort, a human effort - in order for momentum to build EDUCATION will have to take place among both whites and blacks. When it comes to the uplifting of the black race even black americans are hard of hearing. Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: Boogieman on May 18, 2007, 12:12:05 PM First of all I'd like to say InI have found this forum and this internet site particularly , recently. InI have been readin for couple of weeks now. InI can say InI learned a lot on both history and racism ,witch InI think is the main things discussed on this form. Because present is a reflection of the past and history of the future... And RACISM is keeping the original man and woman from his/her history. Since I'm white eastern european and consider InI not rasta but tryin to live rasta livity, not because InI like ganja or reggae (InI like both those things ,both a them contributed to my acquaintance of Ras way of life) , but because it's the true livity ,the only way ,as InI see it. As for the whole white rasta thing I can see how white thinks, I read one of Rootsies articles how she broght her white privilege in to Rasta with her at first. Dem are doin all the same. And when on who is white and claiming to be Ras sobers up and sees the truth theirs 2 ways for em:
1. To be a more passionate about Rasta livity and taking down Babylon. At least thats what happened to me as I learned of Eurowicked ways... 2. Stop the one love bullshit and continue to live happily in babylon , witch they were doin and live the wicked ways. I can see that whites can't accept the facts because they are to hard to handle. I think (that is my opinion) it's easier for Afrikan to be Rasta at some point (I speak about the strugle of ones mind) and here's why. Since Embracing Rasta way of life afrikan is going to his own roots , his own history ,actually one is embracing his own self. As for a white man it's a bit the other way around , in order for a white man to embrace Rasta with all his heart one must disembrace his own culture and all that he had been thought even since grade school (history, religion) and his parental teaching. Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: Boogieman on May 18, 2007, 12:54:35 PM The mental shift is changing. And one must dis embrace his/her white privilige, by firstly recognizing it.
And no "Jah see no color", "my forefathers didn't own slaves", "one love" bullshit , maybe Jah see no color (if the white mans father is devil) , but them are forgetin the fact that Babylon in fact see color. I live in a country witch people suffered from Babylon firsthand. I live in Lithuania. A brief history of the run ins with the beast. Our country was baptised by sword indirectly , because crusaders where attacking the country constantly for couple of centuries. The reason, in their and in Vatican words "to make our country roman catholic" , but mostly it was looting and destroying our lands and raping of our women, since our old ways where wicked , because we were pagan and believed in Nature and our most high god was "Thunder" (the direct translation from our language) it was kind of like Zeus is in greek mythology , but greek gods where sinful kind a like humans , our gods where righteous , "Thunder" would strike the wicked ones. We had our "altar of sacrifice" (once again it's direct translation). That altar was kind like depicted in the bible. It was a burning fire witch was guarded by the holy men. The baptism of our country was performed in the late middle ages. And we where the last country in Europe to be baptized. After that many things occured suck as bondage for the poor people until 19th century , the occupations from our neighbors Russia in particularly , USSR regime , the deportation of about 30% of the population during Stalins regime in 1940 and 1944-1953. And finally independence witch was a truly struggle for freedom. And after all that I can see our people suffer from kind of mental slavery, because our people believe that nothing good can come out of our country. The presidents and prime ministers of our country contribute to the fact. Because after the independence poverty and corruption hit the fence. In our country there aren't many foreign immigrants, but still my most of my countrymen and women are racist and xenophobic. InI hope you understood my point. Peace. And sorry for my grammar. ::) Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: Brendan on June 22, 2007, 07:42:03 PM Hey Mat,

I was depressed for two years and then i found the light that is GOD, that is JAH through this very website reading all of baba ras's writings or something like that and yano i dont care if some people hang onto the word "rasta" like its a club that only some people can call themselves members of. Jah loves all colors of people, and in this day and age it doesnt matter white or black, the more people that apreciate rasta for what it really means the better. God is good and forgiving. The history of rastafari is particularly from black people, but that doesnt mean any person can respect it for what it was. The rastas fought the oppression, and the oppression bears down on all people nowadays. Rasta is the means for soul salvation. I repeat. I found God through rasta, so how can i not ascociate myself with the group? when i praise god i yell JAH! for i love the way it vibrates with my heart. For their to be change, for their to be love, it must be one love, and the love that comes from jah is like a cup that never empties. So why bother with feeling accepted to a group. The group is the human race, and if people wanna exclude people, then they don't understand what life is really worth. A man is man. A man's roots are very important to him and for others to know from where he came. But God works in mysterious ways, and their are righteous men of all colors, so lift up head and thank God for your skin whatever color it may be, thank him for your life. In my oppinion a real rasta sees no color when he looks at a man, he only sees his heart. If the heart is full of good intention, then it is so. Hating anyone for any reason doesn't lead to any feeling of satisfaction. To love your enemies for real is to feel sorry for their tortured souls. For the Devil has his way with the wicked, and they live in hell. Let us come together, and feel the love that is JAH, there is no need to label oneself rasta or not. Rasta had its time of rebellion, let us learn from our white ancestors as well as black, Life is for the living, the dead are dead. LIFE. Life as we know it comes and goes in a relatively short period of time when compared to how long life has been living. In this brief period of existence we are separated from our ancestors, by the knowledge of life and death. It is the dead who lived before us, and in their time followed their own path. Their path is set in stone. But it is the living who decide the path of the future, and the living alone have this power. “There is a war going on. Death is trying to take life, and life is stronger than death. But people believe that death is stronger than life. But we know that life is stronger than death, so life is the road yano?” -Bob Marley. JAH! Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: Rastaman94 on October 11, 2009, 09:47:47 AM I am white, I meself have become Rastafari within the last year, I am 15 and truly discovering what it is to be a true rasta. Haile Selassie I himself said Human beings are precisely the same, whatever colour, race, creed or national origin they may may be. And Bob Marley preach that the colour of a man's eyes is of no more siginifcamnce than the colour of his eyes. So i beleive any rasta the critisize whites, or asians or anyone different to I and I self, shouldnt be a rasta. It be hard to explain to people, why i is rasta, what is rasta, why i always talk of peace and love, they say im just a bong head and everytin, but i am rasta in me heart, and pray to Jah, who has truly offered me a path that i will follow, to be righteous. As i is new to this site, just expressing some feeling, about becoming a new rasta, and what it has done for me.
Jah Bless Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: jahseen on February 01, 2010, 05:39:25 PM Greetins,
I's a white rasta livin in babylon, but I will not remain in dis society fo much longer. I believe that if I and I all children of Jah, and since life was created in Africa, surely den de colour of I skin matters not? Who are we mortals to decide what meks a man a Rasta? I have completely seperated I self from white priviledge, and I hope I have embraced Jah Rastafari. Jah bless, to Zion. Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: young_rastah on May 29, 2010, 08:32:53 PM I am 99% white & rasta as well. I am also not afraid to discuss my hypocrisies, because I think 99% of humans have them. I live and work in babylon in a ghetto. Actually I'm a rent-man & married to a Delilah who is chinese. I am also a leader in my community. I cut my locks for her (and also so I could pursue a career in aviation, which is a rocky road). I have worked on farms and been a bum, but every option was hard & frustrating. It does not matter what color your skin is, and even IF white man were at the top of the food chain, that doesn't mean he is happy.
The biggest point I would make is that it is important to treat people well no matter who they are (and stand up for yourself as people attempt to take advantage of you). Hardships go hand in hand with peace, and if you want peace, you must push forward. Do good and make those hard choices, and you will overcome. Babylon's claws dig deep, the future is dim & the world is not in tune with nature. No matter what skin color you have, we are all on their knees as a species. Blame it on human nature? I refuse to accept this fate. The one thing I pray for is that our children will unite, and that everyone of us who cares will do their part to just do good and not get taken advantage of by vampires. Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: gman on May 30, 2010, 01:25:53 PM Jahseen: You "have completely separated yourself from white privilege"??
How exactly have you done this? Have you skinned yourself so that all anyone can see is the raw red flesh and blood? Or are you the first to take advantage of the "invisibility cloak" that scientists are working on? And re going to Africa because "all humanity comes from there": have you been invited? I hope it's not Shashamane you're going; you do know that H.I.M. granted that land to **direct** African descendants in the west in recognition of those who volunteered to help fight Mussolini's forces, not to anyone who decides to worship H.I.M. (which H.I.M. is not documented to have ever asked anyone to do) regardless of their race? Not to mention the issue that many of the local Oromo people consider it to be their land? I think you need to look deeper into things like "white privilege" and what that means. This site is a good place for that; it certainly encouraged me to look deeper into "light-skinned male privilege" and what that means. I recommend looking through the section called "Essential Reasonings". That goes for Young_Rastah as well. Young_Rastah, to quote another person who has light-skinned male privilege (but not white privilege), "Sorry Mike - it DOES matter if you're black or white" (Ice Cube). Have the babylonians blown away any 7-year old white girls in front of their parents during a raid on the wrong address lately??? And PS, if you consider your wife to be a "delilah" why are you still married to her? Does she know you call her that behind her back? Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: young_rastah on May 30, 2010, 02:56:06 PM I explained Delilah to her once and how she cut Samson's locks, but many Chinese I have met (from China) don't follow the bible, nor does she have much interest. I read parts mostly of the old testament, though I've read it all before. So neither of us consider it behind her back, it's mostly ironic. We do love each other.
No on the 7 year old girls. Babylon does fine brainwashing and divides well without confrontation. In America where I live, the political system long ago stopped representing the people. I'll read Essential Reasonings. I read briefly on white privilege. I don't support that as an individual nor would I ever consciously. I don't deny racism happening but my area is not visibly racist. I grew up with little interest in race. I do discriminate against gangsters and druggies at my job though (which are both black and white, not so many Hispanics though, even though there are a lot of Hispanics in the area). Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: rjd on September 03, 2010, 04:05:18 PM i am not a rasta, i am black, but this topic relly sparked my interest.........................
To the young white rastas who have posted on this forum, i like fact that they recognise that the lord does not see colour but the that faith we have in him is what is important..................As a young adult, i will encourage them to continue with their faith, and regardless of the negative comments by others..............please remember to stay true to yourselves and remember god is king............. Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: Ravenmikhail on May 19, 2012, 08:02:03 PM I just found this post. I have read everything and there is a lot here. I see a lot of love and hate in these post. I am not a Rasta but I am learning all I can about it. For one, I know that it is not a religion, it is a way of living. Most wear dreads, don't eat pork;salt; drink anything with caffeine in it. Their beliefs are based on the bible. There is a lot that I do not yet know but I am in the process of educating myself about. I have been trying to learn from many Rastas instead of by going by what you can find on the internet. For over a month now I have been eating Ital foods trying to clean my body, no razor has touched my head in over three months, my hair is locking on its own. I know that the Rasta movement started in Jamaica in the 1930's, there were a lot of Rasta that hated white people but the more Rasta's I encounter now, they do not see race or color, they see all men the same under Jah's love. I do not like anyone that is racist, I work with a man that is and we are always going at each other over his comments. All people should be treated equal no matter what color or sex that they are. Haile Selassie I felt the same way about all race and people. I would love to talk to anyone on here that would like to help me learn and grow as a person.
Title: Re: white and rasta (please write back) Post by: NaturalIrie on October 12, 2012, 01:36:55 AM Hello bredren and sistren. First off, I want to start off by stating that I am a white 18 year old man. I come here to this message board with Love and Inity, at a humble state of mind. InI feel that Jah does not judge by color or creed, but rather by actions and the condition of our whole existence. InI feel as though that the instinct of all of our bredren and sistren is to seek Jah. Many obstacles corrupt and take away this instinct. As far as the topic at hand of this message board, as it says in the Holy Bible "Many are called, few are chosen". Race does not instill the Loving Spirit of Jah to come into InI, but rather the heart. Any race or nationality is called to be Rasta, gain Livity and live a progressive lifestyle. No one has the right to judge anyone.... ever. So with that being said, praise to the Most High Jah!

It doesnt affect me any more. You are who you are and if you are rasta then let it be praised. Jah beckons all of his children back to him.
