Bring the Revolution Back to the Campus! African Internationalist Student Organization CONFERENCE June 21-24, St. Petersburg, FL On June 21-24, African students from throughout the U.S. will converge on St. Petersburg, Florida for the founding conference of the African Internationalist Student Organization (AISO). AISO is the student wing of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP), a revolutionary party that has taken on the task of completing the Black Revolution of the Sixties. Young people have historically played a significant role in liberation struggles. Organizations like the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee drew its membership mainly from students. In the 1960s, students were often on the front lines of struggle for freedom, sometimes being met with military force and occupation on the very campuses where they studied. (http://www.uhurufiles.org/aiso/aiso-newsletter/images/africanist-youths.jpg) However, since the U.S. government militarily defeated the Black Revolution of the Sixties through assassinating and imprisoning African leaders and crushing revolutionary organizations, there has been no meaningful participation from the campuses in the revolutionary process. Even subsequent to the defeat of the Black Revolution of the Sixties, so-called progressive or revolutionary organizations that were on the campuses prevented students from playing a role in the revolutionary process. On campuses today, revolution has become nothing more than watered down curriculum in Black Studies Departments. This AISO conference will allow African students who want to do more than compile book lists and study groups the ability to find their place in the African revolution. At this conference, students will have the opportunity to learn the science of revolution from veterans of the International African Revolution. Veterans like APSP Chairman Omali Yeshitela, who has spent the past four decades leading revolutionary struggle, will play key roles in the conference. http://www.uhurufiles.org/aiso/aiso-newsletter/images/chairman-end-time.jpg (http://www.uhurufiles.org/aiso/aiso-newsletter/images/chairman-end-time.jpg) Participants in the conference will also learn about the history of the African Liberation Movement. Workshops will also inform students of their rights on campuses as well as put forward information on imperialist companies who fund schools through the rape of our Africa and the exploitation of our people and how to build campaigns to boycott these companies. The African Internationalist Student Organization Conference will be held on June 21-24 at 1245 18th Avenue South at the Uhuru House in St. Petersburg, Florida. Registration is only $30.
