Title: Corporal punishment and child rights Post by: Iniko Ujaama on November 17, 2014, 10:12:22 PM While I do have my issues with corporal punishment I often get the feeling that there are drawbacks in dealing with it in this isolated way. Much of the present norms of our society were instilled with varying forms of violence and coercion and therefore depends on the same kinds of behaviour to maintain them. This does not mean that the use of this form of punishment must be maintained until these can be sorted out. Also does this ignore class issues and other issues which influence the distribution of this form of punishment among sectors of the population i.e some classes of people may find it easier to manage without it whereas others may feel more dependent on this kind of quick fix.
I welcome other perspectives on this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVxtnFY2FJw&feature=youtu.be# (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVxtnFY2FJw&feature=youtu.be#) |
