King of the Castle?

The fool who would be King,
had built himself a castle of glass;
he thought it to be an ingenious plan,
where he could sit and enjoy watching life pass.
For too long he had sat amongst his neighbours,
heard their sufferings, pleas and the rest.
'I have now found the perfect answer,
a glass bubble to surround me, I care not for this test.'
So he sat and tried to rule, the life that was busy around him;
passing judgement though he knew only half the story.
All alone, fear of life began to bubble closer to the rim;
he no longer could tell what was hell or heavens glory.
'I lost my love for it pained me too greatly,
and I no longer look deep within.'
He believed his defences were his armour,
and his lack of care not to be a sin.
Yet a battle in his heart had once tried to express,
through the invisible war being fought;
that living God's law was the meaning of life,
and how happiness was never bought.
But the only problem was,
that through the glass bubble he couldn't see;
that he was a victim by his own hand,
and the poorest of the earth were more free than he.
