Ghana was not ready for his visions and Africa was not ready for an African Bank system, African unity, United States of Africa and other ideas he had about a Pan African unity.
The Osagyefo LIVES!!!
Africans need a strong sense of Nationalism and Unity to become indomitable. This concept indeed formed the basis of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Pan-Africanism! Unlike you though, I think in 1961 most African leaders were ready for one federal government with wealth and strength as a Great Power whose greatness could have been indestructible. Upon Ghana independence Dr. Nkrumah made it perfectly clear that the freedom of Ghana was linked to the freedom of Black Africa Diaspora!
Ghana was the base for training African freedom fighters and revolutionary African leadership. During the same period the President Nkrumah built new cities and also technical colleges and universities. More children went to school and were educated than had ever been achieved in Africa. The Ghanaian government achieved in 8 years what the White man had not done for Black Africans in hundred years of ruling.
yes, Dr. Nkrumah who was a very enlightened African leader stemmed the tide of dependency but the Uncle Toms Africans undermined his efforts and the American CIA got rid of him.
The people were robbed of honest, dynamic and Nationalist leaders. Everything went downhill from there. People who had little vision or ideas replaced Dr. Nkrumah, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, Patrice Lumuba etc. All the African leaders now are CIA agents. No one dare do anything to displease the Western powers. Whereas, at the time of Dr. Nkrumah, Ghana was the beacon of Africa. Through this one man the rest of Africa rapidly gained its honor and independence. When the CIA to got rid of Kwame Nkrumah government it was as if the western powers knew exactly which government to take out in Africa to plunge the continent into chaos and darkness. But Kwame Nkrumah's United Africa ideologies will prevail. Let us start acting again -even in the smallest ways- to show our people what solidarity means and work towards a common goal of developing Africa united.
