I was recently reading a copy of a magpaper that lists some of the spoken word venues here in Chicago. I jotted down a couple of addresses but out of fear of not enjoying myself I decided not to go to any of the places. My queen says that I am one of those grandiose niggers Shadow was talking about in " Mo Betta Blues". Could it be true? Are we so called purists really stifling an art form that has thrived? Could commercialization actually be useful and progressive?
