A tireless organizer, compelling speaker and revolutionary theoretician, Omali Yeshitela is recognized as one of the few leaders giving a cohesive analysis of the crisis confronting African people worldwide. Whether it’s in Sudan, Niger, or New Orleans, African communities face devastating conditions. Yeshitela’s insight into the root causes and his visions for real solutions are more timely and relevant than ever. The African People's Socialist Party, founded and led by Yeshitela, has put out a statement on the Hurricane Katrina disaster. It can be found on www.uhuruafrica.org or www.apspuhuru.org.

The new book, Omali Yeshitela Speaks, shares 28 of the leader’s most powerful speeches, articles and interviews from the past fifteen years. Yeshitela argues that poverty and the associated symptoms imposed on Africa and the African diaspora will only end when African people win genuine political power to control their own resources. Yeshitela also strikes the heart of the current U.S. political and economic crisis with sharp commentary on recent world events, from the attacks of September 11, 2001, to the current war on Iraq.
