Apart from human
There are three other  names
I answer to

There is the name my family calls me
The name my culture calls itself
The name my species calls itself

These are my natural names
Given to me
By the ones who know me

So what am I to do
When one who does not know me
Tells me I have a fifth name?
If he does not know me
How could he know my name?

The creator gave me the form
Of my species
The ancestors who made my culture
Named my culture
The family
From whose flesh I was made
Named me

How can one who played no part
In my creation
Name me?

So I wonder who he is refering to
When he calls out this strange name
As it is nothing to do with what I am
It can not be anything to do
With what I am meant to be

This strange sound is the name
Of something
This demon wants to make

This strange sound is the name
Of a phantom
A spook
A pipeline
A conduit
That has been constructed
To take from what I am
And put it in the stomach
Of a vampire

If I answer
When he calls
He feeds

So I must reject the sound
That steals my essence
And feeds the demon

Apart from human
There are three other  names
I answer to

Thanks Yesayah. I have enjoyed your poetry as well (here and at your site). More strength to you.
