Come to Huntsville, AL to build beyond Jena!Our mobilization to Jena, Louisiana was a brilliant display of Black Power in motion. But it’s not enough. There are Jena’s throughout the U.S. that are crushing our people with the U.S. brand of justice every day.
We have to go beyond Jena and develop the capacity to not only respond to every such case in the U.S., but we must also move beyond responding to the acts against us by white power and come up with the organization and strategy that can advance our interests every day.
This is why we say, “Come to Huntsville and build beyond Jena.”
This coming weekend, on September 29 and 30 the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement (InPDUM), is holding its annual convention in Huntsville, Alabama under the slogan: “Organization is the key; self-determination is the solution!”

http://www.inpdum.orgInPDUM participated in the mobilization in Jena, but we are also busy with cases like that of Shaquanda Cotton, a young woman from Paris, Texas, who when she was 14-years-old was sentenced to 7 years in prison for allegedly pushing a hall monitor. We are also dealing with the attempt by the U.S. government to give what they call “terrorism” a black face in the U.S.
This is happening in several instances, but InPDUM is particularly involved in the case of the Liberty City 7. This case deals with seven young Africans who live in Liberty City Miami, one of the most impoverished communities in the U.S.
They are facing outlandish terrorist-related charges after being setup by an FBI informant who developed plans and gave materials like camera and boots to the men in order to make the case for the FBI.
But none of these struggles -- the Jena 6 battle, the cases in Texas and Florida – will amount to anything unless we build a permanent capacity beyond simple calls for civil rights and civil rights leaders who call on us to do the same old things, like voting and praying.
This is what InPDUM is doing in Huntsville, Alabama over the weekend of September 29 and 30. We are determined to create an organizational capacity that will make it difficult if not impossible for the U.S. government and white people in general to continue attacking our people with impunity. We are also busy building a strategy that will put our people on the offensive instead of just responding to attacks against us.
This is a call for you to go beyond Jena and come to Huntsville for theInPDUM Convention.
