Thank you for your Letter to the Editor.
Below is what you submitted to The Gleaner
Letter :

Sir: here is my take on the abortion issue. A
drowing person graspet at a straw. A study should be
done, perhaps by Dr. Thwaites, to determine how many
of us Jamaicans, present and past, since 1494 would
have been aborted by \"abortion on demand\" and health
practictioners ( note I did not say doctor: for me, a
person who seeks to curtail life in the absence of a
life threatening desease should not be called a
doctor) the etymology of the word \'doctor\'
stipulates \'a facilitator of \'life\'-not death!!!
Any study of the dastardly \'slave plantation system\'
will show that the slaver\'s greatest fear was to lose
his/her \'property\' (the slave). The slave equaled
\"cold hard cash\" so it was within the interest of
the slaver to maximise his assets not minimise them.
So on the plantation the slaver and their minions
would do everything within their power ( sometimes
without ie. by visiting obeah workers) to make sure
that the chance to increase their worth would not be
overriden by the aborting of the pregnancy. Even if
the child was his he would prefer it to be born ( with
him denying that it was his of course) than to lose
the monetary value of it. Doctoring like everything is
a business: all businesses seek to maximise their
monetary value. I am etc. Martin F. Reynolds

Abortion is morally and spiritually wrong. I don't care how one may justify it.
