Whether it is a case of  meanings being lost in translation or not it is in my opinion an incorrect notion that assumes Ori$a/Orixas to lesser gods; there is no other God besides Olodumare 'The Infinite Ruler of the Heavens'. This to me would suggest that Ori$as are not lesser gods but divine-ministers(divinities and deities) of God; but are to be nevertheless celebrated devoutly.
The Orisa/Orixa are to be celebrated and revered much more than their images are to be idolized.

I'd love to learn Yoruba and many more.
Often we find our brothers learning European culture compared to African values. Really sad!
They say you'll never get anywhere in life. Some may find it "sensible"...therefore selling their souls for worldly riches.

Any suggestion on where/how I could start?

Yes, a new calendar year is considered to be a new season. That i refer to when i left my greetings; May the Almighty continue to bless us abundantly during this 2009.
