I am nothing with out my soul

« on: November 23, 2003, 06:31:13 PM »

A BOTTLE OF SILENCE
AN UPSIDE DOWN GLASS
I SIT IN THE QUIET
AND REMEMBER THE PAST

MY LIFE WAS UPENDED
JUST SHORT OF THE GOAL
SO LITTLE IS LEFT
SO LITTLE TO HOLD

I DINE ON ANGER
AND PAIN FROM THE PAST
A MOST TASTELESS MEAL
THE HEARTBURN WILL LAST

LIFE IS JUST LIFE
TO THE 'ME' OF TODAY
THE MIND WILL SURVIVE
BUT THE HEART HAS TO PAY

ALL THAT WAS CHERISHED
HAS ALL BEEN CAST OUT
ALL THAT REMAINS
IS AN OCEAN OF DOUBT

TO LOVE AND TO HONOR
TILL DEATH TO US PART
CAME FROM THE LIPS
AND NOT FROM THE HEART

ALONE AT THE TABLE
HOW ELSE CAN I FEEL
SERVE THE DESERT
I'VE NO TIME FOR THE MEAL

A BOTTLE OF SILENCE
A STILL EMPTY GLASS
I DRY MY EYES
AND REMEMBER THE PAST
Logged

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become reality.
